T

he CEO of Tesla and SpaceX announced the surprising news on Twitter late Tuesday night.

The 51-year-old billionaire is currently embroiled in a legal battle with Twitter over the abrupt cancellation of the $44 billion purchase.

Elon Musk has filed a counter-suit against Twitter, escalating his legal battle with the social media giant over his attempt to back out of the multibillion-dollar deal.

Elon Musk Is Unfazed by Twitter's Legal Battle

Last month, the world's wealthiest person confirmed that he was abandoning the acquisition, blaming Twitter for overstepping the agreement by exaggerating the number of phony accounts on its site.

Elon Musk is known for his irreverent tweets, and it was uncertain whether he planned to pursue a buyout contract with Manchester United again.

Manchester United is owned by the American Glazer family (co-chairmen Joel and Avie Glazer), who also control the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Manchester United, one of the world's largest sports teams, has struggled recently. The Premier League club has not managed to win a championship cup since 2013, and its fans have frequently revolted against the club's holders.

Manchester United started the season with a 2-1 loss to Brighton earlier this month and was then entirely wiped by Brentford last weekend in a 4 to 0 defeat.

World-class players on the team include Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, and Marcus Rashford.

The Glazers paid $790 million ($955.5 million) for Manchester United in 2005. According to Forbes, the club is worth $4.6 billion. As of Tuesday's close, Manchester United's market value was $2.08 billion.

Social Media Pays Attention to What The Billionaire Says

Tesla has sold 75% of its Bitcoin holdings, which were worth nearly $2 billion by the end of 2021. According to the company, it purchased traditional cash with $936 million in Bitcoin sales.

Elon Musk has caused significant fluctuations in the prices of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Dogecoin (DOGE) in the last year. He has been a vocal proponent of cryptocurrencies, with his social media posts frequently sparking significant trading activity.

Meanwhile, reactions to Elon Musk's buyout official statement on social media spread like a massive fire.

It's unclear whether Musk will actually purchase Manchester United or if this is just a whim for the tycoon.
